How I Handled My Dissertation

my dissertationWhen my first dissertation was finished, I was pretty exhausted. To tell the truth, I was not ready for the fact that my dissertation will cause me so much trouble. I have always been in friendly relations with all of the academic assignments, but this one turned out to be the hardest one.

With time, writing dissertations became my occupation, I worked out professional approaches. But that very first experience with my dissertation was the most valuable one. I am willing to share a few of the steps I learned to take when I was dealing with my dissertations:

  • It took me quite a while to work out the topic of my dissertation. I mean I knew what I was interested in, but my interest had to be formulated properly. It turned out the words I use, commas I put – all these things matter once it comes to a dissertation title. And if I did not want to be screwed up with my dissertation, I had to take the process seriously. My supervisor helped me out a lot on this one.
  • Another problem I had to solve is time management. It turned out my dissertations took out a lot of hours every week. It only seems that several years given to write a dissertation are plenty of time. Practice shows – to prove something I had to deal with my dissertation almost every day.

  • Dissertation chapters are the next problem I came across when writing my dissertation. I just did not know how to distribute the material evenly and properly between the parts until I formulated the goals of my dissertations. Once this was clear, the outline was written in no time at all.

As I said, that was my first dissertation. With time and practice things became easier. But if you are only a beginner, keep yourself organized.
